I
chose to speak on this topic because of what I noticed about multi-talented people.
Multi-talented people are those people who can learn anything and still have
the ability to retain them. They also have the ability to put what they have
learnt into action immediately. But the problem is that many of these people
don’t really find it easy to excel. Why is that so? Some people will even say
“even with all they know?” well, let’s
look at some of these myths
THEY LACK FOCUS
Multi-talented
people don’t really focus on a single gift. They are very good at
diversification. They don’t see the world the way others do. I recently spoke
to the owner of Adlibz Music school, Mr. Sifiano Sani, a multi-talented person,
on this topic. What he told me shocked me. He said he said “as you can see, I
am not stable”. What he was actually trying to say was that he can do so many
things and that didn’t enable him pay attention to one. He gave me a list of
his talents:
·
Piano Playing
·
Music tutor
·
Sound engineering
·
Vocal (Voice)
Training
·
Motivational
speaking
·
Music production,
etc.
He
also said that if a multi-talented person can focus on a single gift, then
success is not far from him/her. But always put it at the back of your mind
that whatever you do, you should always have a second option.
THEY BELIEVE THEY KNOW ALL
Most
multi-talented people really believe that since they have an idea about a lot
of things, they know all. Whenever they see an opportunity, they speak or act
even when they are not required to do so. They have an ego filled mindset. My
teacher once told me “always keep them in suspense”. I didn’t really understand
what he meant until after some few ahead. What he was trying to tell me was in
correlation with this saying “save the best for the last”. Don’t sell out
yourself too quick.
THEY EASILY GET BORED
Multi-talentedpeople
find it difficult to do a single thing for a long time. Because of lack of
passion for a single thing, they easily get bored. They believe that since they
can do a lot, they always have options. They believe they can switch easily any
time they feel like. They never have genuine passion for anything. So you see
why it has become very difficult for multi-talented people to excel or succeedin
any chose field of their choice.
Note: This post is not trying to discourage being multi-talented but to change the way multi-talented people think.
